Overhead line maintenance. Currently gathering evidence to prove competency. Only recently has my day to day role got more active.
I have developed many skills through the apprenticeship but the time could have been used more effectively. Most of my skills were developed on site and college units were mostly irrelevant.
Since there have been many issue with regards to the apprenticeship I.e. delays to Crossrail, college changes, apprenticeship changes and being able to get on site evidence it has been quite poor.
As we were the first intake of apprentices, I’ve felt like a guinea pig. There has been a lack of organisation.
Some issues were out of our employers scope but more could have been done to ensure we could have opportunities to learn and progress.
Initially quite well, but as of this year, communication has been poor. Delays have set us back and since to college units feel like a tick box exercise, they don’t have much relevance to our day to day job.
A few units were useful otherwise I feel like on the job training was far more beneficial.
Yes, there are plenty of social activities
Yes
I believe overall TfL are a brilliant company to work for and having been on placements all around TFL for my first year, everyone was welcoming.
Take all the opportunities you can get and learn.
