As a first year sales apprentice I have my hands in my pots. Sales Managers invite me to sit in on meetings for first hand experience with customers. I'm responsible for the forecasting and visualization of our sales managers pipelines. I also do background research for prospective customers and services we are looking at getting involved in. I'm involved in 4 major projects at the moment. every so often I make contact with sales managers around he country and have recently spoken to collogues from Europe.
yes my excel skills have tripled! I have been trained in our latest CRM Tools and a new visualisiation platform. public speaking ad presenting is something I hope to build and I get the opportunity to speak within a group of people every week and constantly throughout the weeks to people.
I enjoy it a lot as I am constantly learning and getting information from all sides. starting university has been great and welcomed by all of my managers and team members. flexibility in my working days for studying is amazing and I appreciate the support from everyone in the workplace
my programme has more of a flow. being proactive has been a key part in my learning. if I want a hand in something I just have to ask and everyone is willing to give me work and open doors. As I am the first sales apprentice I wasn't expecting a defined structure but more of a learning process.
my employer supports me fully and have the best interests for me and the progression of the apprenticeship and career. they trust me to get on with tasks and deliver them on time. they check in if I need support and are willing to go the extra mile if needed
[This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] put everything in place for me despite troubles with qualification providers I haven't had a problem since I started university. he has been great. having a study day every week is a great help as well as allowing me to do uni work during the day when I don't have much on
I'm able to apply skills and knowledge learnt from workshops and reading in my life at work . making me more efficient and successful with what I do. I can now bring fourth new ideas that have been molded from knowledge learnt from the activities I do on my study days
there are many social events and we have bi annual sales meetings where we network and talk about progression so far. we also have a seminar like this for our business as a whole. there has been an event where you go and learn about each departments role in the business which was useful to get to know the pieces of the puzzle
Yes
it has been a great overall experience so far and I truly believe this was a much better decision than university alone. some of my colleagues have over 10/15 years of experience in sales this is a breeding ground for success! the support from my line managers and other senior members of staff is unmatched compared to other stories I've heard from other companies. looking into the future, I feel as though opportunities are endless with Siemens and this is the perfect time to integrate and really make a start on a wholesome and impactful career.
Be yourself, have an open mind when applying and whilst in the interview. think about what you would like to gain and what you feel people with much more experience can teach you? don't drill yourself into a hole trying to research everything about sales before your interview unless instructed otherwise, there will be a lot of questions to ask but people are more than happy to answer them as well as teaching you as you move along
