  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I have varying involvement in a large array of cases of business insolvency and advisory. A lot of work is on an administrative basis, but more control is given when trust is earned and necessary skills have been developed.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Many new skills have been learnt/developed, ranging from interpersonal skills, business conduct and office etiquette involved with working for a large firm. Time and project management skills have also improved, as well as technical skilles e.g. excel.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • High levels of involvement and a good mix of team and independant work mean I thoroughly enjoy it.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • There is a structure of exams to follow arranged by externally BPP. I am given plenty of study time and flexibility to ensure these are completed and I am prepared. There are flexible training sessions internally to improve my knowledge on the job.

  • There is always a large array of technical and personal support available from managers and other colleagues.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • BPP have a good online portal for revision. The classes are good with enthusiastic lecturers and the revision content is good. There are some minor errors/mishaps with the content of the revision system, and sometimes disparity in content with that and the ACCA exam content.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • So far, reasonably. much of the content I have learnt so far has been directly relevant to my work and has helped me understand more technical knowledge and context, however other elements of study are not useful to my work.

  • Yes, lots of social opportunities within the team and wider firm

  • Be confident in applying, be yourself and be likeable. you are not expected to know technical knowledge when you join, but effort, enthusiasm and likeability are critical.
