my role involves providing and repairing customer telephones lines, working from the telephone exchange all the way to the customer telephone point.
I have learnt the procedures involved in repairing and delivering telephone lines to customer, including climbing telegraph poles to repair/install lines.
I work mostly by my self, but do occasionally work with other engineers dependant on the job, so most days I get to control my work day myself.
Study days have been planned well in advance which enables me to prepare the next set of documents required. The programme guides me through each step clearly.
Within the area that I work in there are many other engineers, this means if I'm ever unsure then they are just a phone call away and potentially able to come and advise
Study days are generally left alone so that we can concentrate on each step of the journey.
The documents required for the qualification are just to show evidence of competency in the job role.
There has been Christmas functions for the teams in the area that I work in and quite a few of the team meet up outside work for 5 a side football.
Yes
The job is rewarding, repairing someone's phone line that has been out of service for a while allows that person to be able to reach out and talk to friend and family who aren't local to them
Be patient when applying,
