im learning how to run the 4 plants that we have within our department. This involves manual work outside on site opening route, moving IBC, but im also learnig how to run the computer side of the plants aswell. Using the DCS to operate the site remotely.
yes i've recently passed my fork lift course so i'm now ability to drive the department fork lift. im able to use the dcs system, when i first saw it i didnt think id be able to get my head around it.
i'm very much enjoying my placement here, working with good people and developing a good career.
it really structured to be honest, the shift managers are excellent when it comes to managing the five apprentices within our department we have a apprentice rota for who doing what so everyones getting an equal treatment when it comes to the teaching.
plenty if anything is needed its provided.
we get dedicated hours we can set for each week to work on our NVQ work, its within the rota we have.
i think its very effective because you'll gain more of an understanding of the job at hand, equipment on site that you may not have come across yet can be explained to you in college and then when you come across the equipment you can the apply that knowledge.
ye the lads on shift always make us feel welcome to join them going for a drink after work, work have also set up young peoples network connection all the apprentices across site together ive got alone with alot of the 3rd year apprentice though that.
Yes
its an all round great place to be, there is alot of support for you as an apprentice to progress and the jobs rewarding the pays good and can only get better, and the career you can gain from this place is excellent.
