Process operator running and maintaining chemical plants and environments. Daily business of taking samples, charging materials into the reactors and vessels. Learning to run these plants from both inside and outside on the Digital Control Systems. The plant I work on is a top tier comah site, meaning all chemcials dealt with are major hazards and safety is paramount.
Running chemical plants on a digital control system from remote systems and control rooms, both the general control room and also local control rooms on site. Manual tasks and labelling, such as samples and charging reactors with raw materials on a day tom day tasks on the chemical plant here.
I thoroughly enjoy the programme, the operators I work with are always there to support or teach if I have any difficulty completing a task when out on the plants. when starting, they were very helpful in helping me learn and understand the information I was being given at work
the program ran here at Solenis is very well managed and thought out, both when at work and at college, as the tutors and mentors in the working environment are always in contact about areas of support that may be necessary to help achieve the best out of both the apprenticeship and work
I receive all necessary support both at work and at college, this is very helpful, as it allows me to clarify any areas of support that I may need with either learning or the on site tasks, as some may be complicated and need to be done to a certain standard
when at work, we receive all the support needed, as the employer is always willing to help to the best of their ability, and if we need any time for college work when at work, if we just mention that we have college work to be getting on with, they allow us to do so
The qualification allows us to learn about both the instruments on site and all necessary information needed to help run these plants to maximum running capabilities and rates to maintain both safety and paramount information.
Yes there are plenty of teams to get involved. An example of this would be the 5 aside football team that is ran by some of the senior operators.
