1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Working as a quality engineer there are a variety of day to day tasks that I carry out. As part of a feature team we specialise in software test. Tasks include script writing , manual testing, automation, business walk throughs and show and tells whilst using a variety of tools to complete these tasks.

2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt many new skills that have been brought through to my existing role. These include a good understanding of java, java script, SQL, HTML and many more software applications that are now being utilised within my day to day work. Around this I have also gained understanding of wider project theory and practices.

3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I have enjoyed the program a lot, the environment is one where you can practice and learn and gain further knowledge. The course is engaging and challenging with the projects asking you to further develop the skills learnt in the class room. The tutors are responsive to questions and support my development

4. How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is very well structured. there are a variety of classes throughout the day, all requiring their own project work and delivery dates. The year is split into two sections with both requiring deadlines for submission at the end of them. As the weeks progress the learning increases on the subject.

5. How much support do you receive from your employer?

I received enough support from my employer, I work along side many IT professionals who are always welcoming to provide help and support for the tasks I am engaged in. As the course progresses the need to fit my university projects with my work will increase as the assignments focus more on a viable delivery of something within my organisation

I feel the skills I have learnt in university support my development in work.

8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

at present I do not get involved in too many activities, I do play squash after work and join in a class learning selenium. There are many opportunities to get involved in professional networking across the year with hack a thons and team days

The opportunities it provides are great, the skills being learnt are relevant to the industry I work in and I believe I am challenged enough to make my job interesting. the support you get is excellent throughout

Make sure you have a good work ethic, show willing to learn and succeed. grab all the opportunities that are available to you and you will have fun and succeed
