My job title is Client Reporting Apprentice and my day to day role, in general, is reporting on a range of funds, providing information to different departments. I have set job roles daily, monthly, quarterly and yearly, along with a lot of ad hoc requests from other departments. My jobs vary from making cash transfers between funds, to preparing investment reports, based on information provided by other departments.
I have learnt a lot from my short time here. Firstly I am passing my exams, which in my case is the Investment Operations Certificate. I am also learning a lot about the industry as a whole and what is required of me to survive in this industry.
I really enjoy this programme. Prior to working at M&G, I was on another apprentice scheme which wasn't very good as there was not real structure to it and not many qualifications on offer. It is the opposite here as you know exactly what you are doing and when and everyone is on the ball. Not to mention that you aren't put under any pressure to finish as quickly as possible.
I feel very valued by the company and the people in my team. Everyone is very encouraging and are constantly praising you and offering you encouragement. You feel part of the team from day 1. It is also a very sociable company to work for.
It is very well structured. You know exactly what you need to do and when. There is always someone available to talk to if you have any concerns.
You have a lot of support. You are given the provider's email address and you can contact them any time you wish for support.
You receive a lot of support from the company. They are very accommodating as you are given 2 days study leave per exam and as much time as you want to study at work, providing your work is done.
It is a very good salary. After the train fair, which is expensive, I still have a healthy bank balance to cover my other costs and have money left over for socialising.
There are always different company events going on, like football tournaments. Not to mention social events arranged by groups of employees, like nights out and team building activities.
Yes
It is a great company to work for. I actually come to work and enjoy myself, which I never thought I would say.
It is a vigorous application process but nothing too hard. Be yourself as your personality is just as important as your qualifications.
