Our day to day training is either working on aircraft or doing our CAT A modules up in Gloucester where we study and take exams for the first year of the apprenticeship. Once finished we will continue our apprenticeship by working in engineering and picking up hands on skills on aircraft.
Yes I have learnt hands on skills as I have been put to the test to use new tools/ equipment which has allowed me to learn and work on existing skills. Hands on skills are very important in engineering so working on these skills will help me moving forward. I have developed on my communication skills.
I have enjoyed every single step in my apprenticeship, BA have been very supportive and helpful when moving forward with my apprenticeship I feel like I have the help from the staff. I have definitely enjoyed my placement as I have picked up multiple hands on skills and learnt how different working in aviation is.
I believe the organisation/ structure is at a good standard as everything has been planned well from start to current. All our training for the next year has been planned and given to us. When we had our first placement that was also given to us beforehand and was structured well.
I believe we do get a lot of support from our employer even now where we have been sent for training, our training partner and employee work together and offer help from both companies which also helps us as a cohort move forward. My employer keeps in contact with us to see if we need any additional help.
I have just started working towards my qualifications with our training partner, so far we have understood our training scheme and what we will be working towards, as of now we have received help with whatever we are struggling with. The training partner have been very organised and helpful. This has helped me as an individual.
The qualifications we will get from our training provider will help us move forward with our qualification as a whole. It will help me build a career in engineer and give me a role to play once I finish this apprenticeship which is recognised world wide. This will definitely help me perform better in my role.
We have been offered gym membership back at Waterside (HQ) other than that I have not noticed many extra curricular activities, this may be because I have not been in the company for very long. I am not aware of any sport teams but we have as a group carry out our own activities.
Yes
I have achieved so much already in such a small duration and I cannot wait to progress through my apprenticeship, the staff are very helpful and the training scheme is the best programme for someone who wants to be become an engineer as it provides all the basics and qualifications.
To have knowledge in the company and the apprenticeship scheme. Knowledge of engineering is not needed but to an extent is good enough to applicants applying for British airways. I would also say, knowledge of what the apprenticeship consists of is one of the most important tip as you should know what you are getting into.
