Run Ad Hoc Query reports through SAP software to produce scheduled and create requested reports for Regional Branch Managers, payroll department, Corporate staff such as recruitments analysts and members of the Exec. Analysing reports to see current trends in employment, average salaries/hourly pay in specific roles to assess the impact of national minimum wage and justifiable salary increases/decreases. Run Se16n wage type reporters, correcting holiday and absence errors and data cleansing. Monitoring SAP usage and assessing access (reinstating or taking away). Leading training workshops on SAP, policies and procedures and payroll information for General Manager inductions. Daily skills include using advance EXCEL, and BI to collate information for presentations in meetings with the exec committee.
Due to my role I am now advanced in excel, and I have learnt the skills to become a data analyst. The apprenticeship is expanding my theory as a HR practitioner, and I will then be able to put this into practice at my workplace. I am currently expanding my knowledge on the wider HR.
I enjoy having workshops where I am able to network with other people in different companies that otherwise I wouldn't meet. I enjoy being able to have open discussions with teachers about my study and to do my learning in an environment which is encouraging and supportive with my peers.
I think that my programme is quite structured from what I can see on how its set up online however I have just started my apprenticeship so I am still trying to understand and get to grips with the structure online as there is quite a lot to take in and do in my diploma.
My line manager does support me whenever I need help with my studies and we have regular 1 to 1s every week where she will go through my work with me however it is going to be difficult to get my 20% off the job studies with how busy my role is.
My training leader has emailed me to ask if I need any extra support with my learning difficulty and when I email her she responses back quickly. I do feel Crosby and a supportive training provider however because I am working as well as studying you are never going to get complete full support like going to university.
Doing this qualification is not only good for my progression as CIPDs are standard qualifications that employers and looking for potential employees to have and it is more or less a standard but knowing the theory of HR has helped me to understand my companies structure and put what I am learning into practice which makes me a better HR practitioner
There are loads of extra curricular activities going on at work, we have a monthly pay day social where there are free drinks, we also have every year a football tournament there are other things I have taken part in such as wolf runs for charity, the running club, and networking events like the HR Symposism.
Yes
It is a friendly and fun place to work, it is also a really good social environment and the amenities at Fleet Street are great. I do think its a good place to work if you have the right salary. I would recommend to my friends as a place to start in HR.
I would advise to apply to M & B with a wage you would be happy to accept, the role you would accept does not matter so much as it is so easy to move around to different departments if a job is not for you or if in fact you would just like to gain experience and try something new.
