delivery driver/stock handling vehicle daily checks/putting stock out, helping the customers and colleagues getting everything done on time. Dealing with customers and staff members in and out of the store.
For the qualification I have learned new road transport rules and regulations about a commercial van driver. I have also learned how to reduce costs and fuel consumption. Data protection and duty manager training has also been worked on within the store and I hope to work more in store in the future.
The qualification has been all good. I have enjoyed the sessions even with the Maths and English aspects. The group was really good and small which makes it more personal and this has helped me get my points over when i have needed to. Overall I am happy with the way things have gone.
Thinking back I can recall the induction which was also carried out throughout the sessions. The training was always planned in advance to allow me and the store to organise things. All studying was done internally and also in the sessions which helped me. The support from the assessor was good. They were always there to help when or if I need it.
The support from the manager has been good he always supported me and my colleague when we needed it. The assessors have also been helpful and supportive and easy to get hold of if I ever needed them.
The assessors were always there to help and nothing was an issue. They gave us their numbers from the start and were available when we wanted them. If I had an issue then it was sorted. The attitude was positive and I have enjoyed the sessions very much,
It has helped me take note of the legal aspects of my role and not just oh I am a driver scenario. I have the knowledge to make decisions with or without the management. I am saving fuel and wear and tear on the vehicle and also reducing stress for myself.
We used to have Christmas parties etc in the store but this seems to have fallen by the way side now. Not many things happen in our store.
No
The high turnover rate of staff would put anyone off. The internal training for a driver is not always as good as it should be.
Do your research, make sure you are fully aware of the job role and be flexible.
