  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt a lot as this is my first community based job I have had since I started working in care 10 years ago. I have learnt a lot about care as a business including capacity for extra clients, costings and quoting for care packages. I have learnt a lot regarding care planning and the process of identifying needs and sourcing the right support for someone wishing to live in their own home.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • So far, I have only completed the first unit. I am finding it difficult due to not completing work such as this for some time, however, am enjoying the challenge. Assessor is available for advice and support when I feel I need it. I enjoy learning and this is giving me a chance to learn and will support me to achieve my goals within the company

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I find my manager very supportive. They put the request forward for me to complete the award, something I have wanted for a number of years. They have offered me support with it as they had not long ago completed theirs. I have a supportive assessor who I feel able to approach with any concerns or queries I have

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I was recently ill during the time I had planned to complete my first unit. I spoke with my assessor who put me at ease and worked around to another deadline. I have spoken to her several times and always find her helpful. I am looking forward to meeting again following submission and marking of my first unit.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I am working at a line manager level and would like to progress to becoming a branch manager in the future. This qualification will allow me to do that and provide me with invaluable skills I can take with me through my career. First unit was communication which has made me more aware of the barriers we face to communication on a daily basis.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • AMG as a company work with a charity each year to raise a target amount of money. Last year, AMG raised over £25,000 for Douglas Macmillan Hospice. This was raised through charity events throughout the year, open to staff, clients and the public. When I am not working, I enjoy scuba diving, walking and reading.

  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Working for AMG, I feel a valued member of the team. My job role has changed from what it was when I started; in the fact that I now manage a team of supervisors and have additional responsibilities. I feel that the company are supportive and will work with you towards rectifying issues and concerns

  • I would advise people to be open and honest and enjoy their time with the company. Through AMG I have met some fantastic people and have developed good relationships with colleagues in my branch and others. I made them know I would like progression - the company has put me forward for this qualification and also adapted my position for extra responsibility.
