  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role on a day-to-day basis involves the reconciliation of client data against data that we have in our various software systems. If numbers do not match then I will contact clients so that we can resolve this. To add to this I do work on tax risk and governance for some clients, so that they are able to combat modern issues in markets

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt how to work various different software systems, such as excel, to a relatively high standard. Internal training courses on different areas such as the fundamentals of VAT have been greatly useful for practical skills I can use day-to-day in my role. To add to this my professional qualifications course has helped me learn about real life tax computations etc such as personal allowance

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am greatly enjoying the programme at the moment. My team are all very helpful and have made me feel welcome at the company. I have yet to meet a staff member who hasn't been nice to me, this far exceeds my typical expectation of an overly corporate office vibe.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme so far has been extremely well structured. The first week consisted of basic values teachings for the company and after that we were introduced to our respective teams. Support is always on hand from either my career coach, buddy or peers within my group. Overall I have been impressed

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Support is always available at work. My manager and career coach regularly check up on me to make sure that I am getting work and settling in well. To add to this any small problems that I have can be resolved easily as there are always people to speak to.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Kaplan provide me with lots of materials however it has been surprising that a lot of work is left down to me and the accessibility of support isn't as good as I thought it would be although they've recently made contact with me. I don't really enjoy college

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification has helped me with practical tax skills such as personal allowance and tax rates. At the moment we have yet to cover VAT but I am sure once we get to that then practically I can apply more of what i learn to the job at hand m.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are plenty of out of work activities that I can get involved with. I am part of both the snooker and golf societies. To add to this I regularly play table tennis in the office and we also take part in regular social events such as axe throwing and evening meals

    9/10

  • 9a. Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • PWC has a welcoming feeling in the office and my colleagues always look out for me. As well as this there is plenty to get involved with both inside and outside the office such as table tennis, yoga and golf societies. Finally the office space is relaxing and encourages hard work,

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
  • I would encourage people applying to be themselves throughout the interview process. PWC pick people over grades so don't be worried if on paper you aren't the cleverest, just be nice and friendly. It is quite informal compared to other processes. I would also suggest that 16/17 year olds to look into the insight weeks.
