3 days a week I got to the factory and do work with the people that work at airbus learning and practicing the jobs and once a week I go college to do theory work and learn what it is I do and why I do it. Such as the theory of flight and materials that are used.
I have learnt a lot of new skills sucks as drilling out bolts and riveting ring panels. I have also learned a lot of new theory’s on aerodynamics and the inner structures of a metal. I also developed my existing skills in thinks like drilling, bolting and maths and sciences.
I have enjoyed the job here although I think there are a lot of flaws to it as well. I feel like there is a lot of writing and A lot of work that is not relevant to the work that I’ll actually be doing in the factory when I’m out my time
50/50 some parts of the cause is well thought out well planed I feel like I know the end goal and what’s happening but a lot of major decisions get made last minute and when moving placements it’s always last minute your told or your given half a story
The support is over all pretty good I have dyslexia so they offered to help with that straight away sent me to see somEone and sorted out making sure my life here was as fair as everyone else’s. I did have a problem once that wasn’t handled that well but was eventually sorted
They give you just enough support it seems to be balanced just right so it works out fine. The college day teacher are just as good for the support to I think in that respect the system works just fine to be fair for everyone yet harsh enough to make it skilled
I feel like the hand skills taught at college was okay I feel they was to picky on a lot of things that didn’t matter and not picky enough on a lot of things that did matter I feel like they could change a lot of the training to make it more relevant
At airbus we have a hole section called gen A they arrange all outside events for the apprentices you do this involves all sorts of different activities such as footie trips to airports net ball hockey and more they also do events for new people to meet new people for networking
