Case management which has so far involved assessing approved persons applications, reviewing policy documents, objections which will be presented in court, attending firm meetings, attending interviews, taking minutes of meetings. The main function of my team is to assess new bank applications at the gateway and ensure the firm is compliant with all regulatory and legal requirements in order to establish itself as a UK bank. The application is assessed with scrutiny as consumer protection is at the heart of what we do.
Learnt a depth of new knowledge around banking, financial firms and how financial businesses establish themselves, are always kept an eye on by the FCA and at times may face consequences for failing to be compliant. I have learnt how to network.
I enjoy learning alongside studying as it goes hand in hand with me getting to grasps with my role and also then applying this to my assignments for my apprenticeship.
The programme could be slightly more well structured with more support available in another form other than just conference calls every month.
Support is there when needed and when asked for. In terms of the job role there is support and training.
Again, support is there when asked (such as on the monthly calls). As there are no face to face classroom sessions, it can be hard to grasp what is expected of you sometimes.
Aspects of the ICA AML qualification can be applied to my role as the role involves compliance and risk.
Training, social events, volunteering, committees and networks are things you can get involved in.
