  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role includes reviewing documents that are relevant to an ongoing investigation, I describe the documents, check the relevancy and organise them appropriately. I also help out in day-to-day administration tasks, this may include photocopying, organising relevant information, help plan meetings and take minutes. I also attend meetings and present any updates in my work.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • From my apprenticeship I have learnt a number of new skills; I have learnt how to communicate clearly and effectively, time management and have gained confidence in myself when presenting. The apprenticeship has taken me out of my comfort zone in order for me to gain new skills, I have also learnt how to complete my job effectively.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme massively, it is interesting and something completely different to what I was used to. This apprenticeship has made me learn so many new skills that are transferable in my everyday life. Also having this experience on my CV is hugely beneficial and something I am proud to have on there.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is organised effectively, we receive updates on anything new that is happening / where we are at. There could be no improvement in that area, we attend many training sessions that are organised by HR and our managers, the structure and organisation is great, I have no concerns in that area.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I feel comfortable to express my concerns and we receive great support. We have an apprentice lead which also helps massively as any questions we have we have the support to find answers. We also have support from our managers who we have 1-2-1s with every 2 weeks to express any concerns we may have and we have drop in sessions with HR every few months.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We receive great support from work, we get 1 study day a week to work on our qualification and our managers have a great understanding of what is expected of us. Towards exams they understand we may need some extra time. The best thing about working at the FCA is the support and understanding our managers / HR have towards our qualifications.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My qualification has helped me in my day to day role to understand how the whole enforcement process works, it has also given me confidence in meetings, etc as I understand a lot of what happens outside my job in the bigger picture. I have learnt so many transferable skills in my qualification.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are many things to get involved in at my work, there have different clubs, language lessons, social events. However there isn't a massive culture of going out after work at the FCA so we are a quiet bunch in that aspect, so it depends on what you like doing.

  • 9a. Would you recommend FCA to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Because it is an amazing thing to have on your CV, other employers respect working here so much. It is an amazing place to work, everyone is so friendly and you receive great support. I have never received better support in any other company/school. The work is rewarding as you are helping others and it just overall a great place to work.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to FCA?
  • BE YOURSELF. That is the main piece of advice I can give, speak out for what you think and show your confidence. Don't be too nervous - I understand this is easier said than done, but I can ensure that all the interviewers are lovely and honestly just want what's best. My dad always says they don't want to trip you up, they want you to do well so no time is wasted. And it is so true, they want you to do well so breathe and stay calm.
