I have undertaken various technical and non-technical roles during my apprenticeship at IBM. Following relevant training and exposure within teams, my duties have included undertaking the lead developer role on several projects, leading a team of testers during an upgrade project, managing the contractual agreement with the client and 3rd party suppliers, and engaging with various stakeholders to manage the financing of several projects. These are just a few examples of some of the exciting and challenging opportunities that I have experienced since joining IBM.
Learning new skills and developing your existing knowledge is what the IBM Apprenticeship scheme is all about. From day 1 you are enrolled onto a fantastic training programme that provides week long residential courses mixed with on-the-job training to allow you to harness the skills that you have recently acquired. The internal training equips you with invaluable technical and business skills, from programming in various languages to client negotiations and bid proposals. Alongside this, you are greatly supported with external training courses and obtaining qualifications more specific to your desired career path.

As an IBM Apprentice, I am regularly asked to present to Executives, Clients, Universities and Schools, to mention a few. IBM is very proud of its Apprenticeship scheme and the Apprentices within it, and the awards that IBM have received compliment this.
The IBM Foundation network provides outstanding support to all Apprentices, through the form of mentorship, guidance and general life advice.

The starting salary for an Apprentice is highly competitive and very generous in the current market.
As an Apprentice at IBM, you are actively engaged to take part and lead events and initiatives, ranging from presenting to ministers and attending board meetings with clients, to helping out at a village community centre and schools, providing valuable skill workshops for like minded young professionals.
Yes
The application process is rather thorough, but the scheme is not limited to purely technical roles! Anyone with some drive and who is willing to work hard, should apply for an opportunity they will never regret.
