I complete 3-6 month placements within different departments in wing structures engineering, these involve stress, design, fatigue and hands on work with machinery. I can work in different programmes and I get to choose the placements that I want to do. I go to university 2 days a week.
I have been developing my public speaking and confidence a lot through all of my placements and I am improving my communication both verbal and non verbal. I have also learnt many technical skills ranging from reading drawings, writing dossiers and using machinery such as the lathe.
I enjoy the programme a lot as I get to choose my own path.
Within Airbus the programme is structured well and apprentices are welcomed, the degree has been challenging at times, especially with deadlines that are short and structured towards a student.
We receive support for most things.
We do not receive to much support and I just feel like a nuisance to the university when we have issues.
I feel that my roles help more with the university work rather than the other way round because I learn more through my placements and get to see the learning applied.
The teams have socials and there are sports teams.
Yes
I would recommend the apprenticeship to a friend as you learn lots on the job, there is no debt and it is a good company to work for.
Only apply if you are interested in learning and in the topic otherwise you will not eb able to be trained.
