I am currently working on a client project and looking after the financials/commercials. This involves regular meetings with the engagement director/partner to review how the budgets and engagement margin are looking. I also invoice the client and price up extra activities that we are on-selling. I am in charge of people's forecasts and making sure we stick within budget.
I have learnt invaluable project management skills from working on the PMO team and more efficient ways of working such as shortcuts on Excel etc. I now understand how the financials are run on a large multi-workstream project and what makes our consulting business profitable. I have been able to work with other workstreams and learn about what our Operations consulting and Tech consulting team do.
I really enjoy my programme as I have many opportunities to attend training and get involved with initiatives outside of my usual role. I enjoy working on all different project and meeting new people continually, no 2 days is the same. It is good to feel that you are adding value to the firm and team by the work you are doing.
Our programme from PwC's side is very well organised and we are put on 6 month rotations on roles and we receive regular communication about moderation etc. Our training provider, Kaplan seem to be unorganised and it is sometimes unclear on what is expected of us. For example up until recently it wasn't well communicated what our end point assessment would involve.
I receive as much support as I need. My managers on my project team are also free to talk and I feel comfortable asking for support if I need it. They are particyularly supportive around exam periods and allow extra time for revision. I also have a career coach that I catch up with on a regular basis and can speak about things confidentially to. I have been given great advice and reassurance so far.
Your talent coach is supposed to provide support during your qualifications however I have had 3 new people within 15 months and this has meant I have built no rapport with them. They seem unorganised as to what's going on in my apprenticeship and when deadlines for end point assessment are. The college tutors on the other hand have been good at giving past paper questions and extra materials when asked.
I think my qualification has offered new knowledge such as PESTLE & SWOT analysis and given the grounding of what is to be expected of you as a consultant. I now feel confident in reviewing a companies financial statements and analysing and giving my judgement on what they mean. The skills days has also made me feel more aware of my own working style and how to work more efficiently.
There are lots of activities to get involved with. We have many sports teams and there is a new opportunity every week to attend a networking or speaker event. On my project team we regularly go out for drinks or do an activity. I am part of the wellbeing team at work and we set up meetings to promote putting yourself and health first - one of these included a yoga session.

It is a fantastic place to work and you learn something new on the job everyday. You are always meeting new and fascinating people from all different backgrounds that you can learn from. The culture is very friendly and caring at PwC and this is one of the first things people notice when coming from another company.
Be yourself in the interview and answer questions honestly as opposed to answering in a robotic or very corporate way. Think carefully about the kind of area you would like to work in and try and speak to someone who works here to get a better understanding of their daily tasks and their opinion.
