Auditing clients, which involves either working from office or travelling to to the client site. Working on different workbooks such as payroll, admin, payables, receivables, inventory, cash and other areas. as we are training in a level 7 apprenticeship we also have to go to college for a week at a time a few times every year and sit the exams after.
I have learned everything new here, this includes working on skills as well such as time management as where you are based you will need to make sure you are organised enough to leave on time to start work at 9 which sometimes means having to get up at 6am or earlier. I have developed on people skills massively as having to interact with new people on teams or clients.
I am really enjoying new things but the training and coaching has let me down a bit due to certain teams I have been put on as some are better at providing help and coaching than others. this does then affect my ability to learn as quickly as others in my intake.
I believe EY have structured it well but more monitoring needs to be put in place when coaching new joiners as not all teams I personally have been on (and also heard from peers) have been as effective in the coaching they provide or as willing to coach due to it being timely.
My employer is very supportive, especially with an illness and mental health they allow me to have time off for hospital and doctors appointments and I am allowed flexable working in place due to my condition as I am often in too much pain to be as effective at work.
Not very much support at all ive struggle with exams although my company have allowed me to delay them due to medical reasons but when asking my exams boards for extra material to help with exams ive not always gotten a response which delays my learning further than everyone who has passed before me
the materials ive needed to study my exams have also helped me in applying that knowledge in my work I have to complete. my work has also helpd me understand more towards my qualification too which gives me a bit more confidence in the quality of training. I have only had one exam for my qualification so far
EY are really good at getting everybody involved in extra curricular activities and social networking events. There have been charity sports activities, pizza and drink socials, Christmas formal and audit partys for everyone to get involved in and meet new people of all levels. this helps a lot when working in new teams
Yes
It is a good well paid apprenticeship that you can easily move up through the ranks providing you pass exams. It is good for someone willing to give up a lot of free time and willing to devote that to the job as it takes a lot of time with revision and working hours.
Make sure you are willing to learn or nothing will stick as it is initially hard to wrap your head around auit and try to understand why you are doing certain procedures. Definitely ask as many questions as possible. Be prepared to have very limited free time, most of my time is work, then after 6 revision and is a cycle, even on weekends sometimes.
