  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work within the Tax Controversy and Risk Management team within EY's tax department. I tend to focus on and do work around legislation controls to help companies be compliant to HMRC's legislation.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes. Everyday I learn more about tax, legislation and different laws. A large benefit is daily I am learning how to communicate effectively and gaining experience in a professional environment.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Very much. The people are very supportive and kind. I have built lots of relationships at EY. I also learn on the job, get qualifications and get paid which is a huge positive.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The exam/learning side of the program is very structured. I know when I am going to college, when I have an exam and what has to be done on what days. Work is a structured as it can be, but it is work and you can't control everything.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • A lot. There's a lot of financial support it terms of paying for exams, travel to college and resources. We also get time to study and they very much value a work/life balance. There's always someone I can go to talk to and I feel very comfortable to do so if I ever have to.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I get frequent emails with resources and live learning webcasts sessions. They keep up to date with what we have/haven't do and maintain communication so that we are not forgotten about.

  • the qualification I gain is very beneficial as it is a highly valued qualification that can help me gain opportunities throughout my career. It is well recognised.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes there is. There are a lot of socials where we go out as a team for meals/drinks. There are lots of events such as balls and Christmas does. I also take part in an after work 5 a side football team every week.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • They are very supportive. They have lots of benefits and can provide lots of opportunities due to their size and reputation. They understand that their employees are their selling point/product so we are very well looked after.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
  • Take the application process seriously because you will be very lucky to get a place at EY. Once you're in try your best and take exams seriously as EY can guarantee you a healthy career. Speak to people here as everyone is nice and welcoming.
