Various activities such as engagement set up work (including risk assessments, engagement letters), meetings with managers/seniors to discuss progress on a project, making amendments to tax analysis on slide decks/word memos. When I have a quieter day I spend some time doing research on international tax issues so that I can increase my knowledge.
There are a large amount of skills which I have developed and gained since joining the apprenticeship. I have grown in confidence as I have had to present research to more senior project members and work on things I am not too knowledgable but now I have more belief in my abilities. I have also improved my communication by having to discuss the project with people in the team. Also, since things can be busy I have also developed time management and organisation so that I can ensure I get all the work done.
I enjoy the programme a lot because I feel it is a great opportunity and an excellent at to start my career. I am getting the chance to learn a lot and develop a vast range of skills which will help me in the future. Day to day I get trusted to work on projects which is rewarding when I feel like I am helping make a difference to the team.
The programme is very well organised with a set structure for most apprentices. This means I can easily get information about dates of exams etc as the apprenticeship team are fully aware of the process. We get information about our exams and training which help us to improve at the day to day job and feel like we are also developing other skills. There is also a great support network for anyone who needs it.
There is a lot of support available. I have been made aware of the people who I can go to if I need to speak to someone and feel like I can trust them to discuss any worries I have. My employer is very supportive through providing a lot of training as well as support for exams which helps with skills development.
There is a fair amount of support. They provide the resources we need, both physical and online and we are able to email them should we have questions outside of the college time. They have extra online courses that can be accessed to improve our understanding and help us revise near the exam.
The training provider qualification improves my general understanding of accountancy which can be useful for certain projects in my role. This makes me more confident when having discussions. However not all the exams relate directly to my role and so sometimes I do not use what I learn for the qualification.
Yes there are extra curriculars. There are a range of sports group who meet regularly to train and sometimes have competitions with other firms. The team also has quarterly socials which are good fun and a chance to get to know people. In addition, there have been several networking events I attended which led me to feel more involved.
Yes
They are very supportive to help me with personal development and my professional qualification. I feel like I am learning a lot and getting a wide variety of opportunities. A big thing is that everyone is very friendly and welcomed me into the team which would encourage me to recommend EY as it is a great inclusive place.
Make sure you to do research to get to know more about EY. Prepare for the interview by thinking about your strengths and achievements, but don't stress about it. The assessment centre is a great learning exercise as there are a variety of activities so speak to people and ask lots of questions.
