We check that the financial statements that companies publish to the public are all correct and offer these companies assurance that everything is running as it should.
I have massively developed my soft-skills and have matured a lot whilst being at the firm; I am also more confident. I have also been able to develop my IT skills and gained an in-depth understanding of how companies work and about how and why financial statements are produced.
I enjoy my programme to a certain extent - the long hours are very overwhelming, especially after coming straight from school. I have had the opportunity to have a lot of responsibility which I feel has allowed me to mature and take pride in my work.
The programme could have been better organised when I first joined the firm as I went straight into work with no training until my 3rd week. Also, we went to college 8 months before our exam took place. Otherwise, I would say it is a very well-structured programme.
I receive an extensive amount of support from a range of people at EY: I have a counsellor, buddy and apprenticeship coach. Furthermore, the staff are all very supportive and if I ever have an issue everyone is very supportive and understanding.
I would say we receive a fair amount of support from Kaplan. I haven't had too much interaction with them so I can't comment any further
What we learn at college is applicable to the overall job and a greater understanding of accounting, for example, is very helpful on a day to day basis.
We have a fair range of networking and social events. However, I would say sports teams are not pushed as far as they could be.
Yes
It is a great opportunity to develop your career and they have a very flexible culture. The firm has also really pushed me out my comfort zone which in turn has allowed me to develop as a person.
Be yourself - it really matters!
