I rotate between analytics and audit every 6 months. In analytics we use such as alteryx and SQL to prepare data to help audit teams take a digital approach. In audit we test different accounts and cover key risk areas to ensure the client presents their financial information in an accurate fair way
I have learnt how to use different tools on alteryx, as well as use REGEX. I have learnt financial knowledge in audit , addressing key risks for each account and on how to plan and request information from the client. I have also learnt maths and algorithms at university which helps with data science.
I enjoy my role at EY. Data analytics is dynamic and every day is like solving a puzzle. The team dynamics is amazing and everyone is friendly and happy to coach you , pushing you to excel. We often have work socials together and have a retreat once a year to get closer as a team.
The programme is quite organised as we have modules every 2 months. Every apprentice is put on different jobs however so will get different experiences compared to others. We are all however academically consistent and get the same modules. As we are the first cohort there is sometimes confusion as to our future but is often clarified.
My employer provides me with adequate support , with adequate study days and training days to ensure I learn to keep up with the dynamic work environment and I'm not behind academically. We all have counsellors to reach out for to ask questions or if we have any personal issues which is a good support line.
We receive 4 workshop days every module which help us consolidate my knowledge. We have a personal tutor who can check our work or provide us with admin support. We receive online content every week and have a conference call to solidify our knowledge and ask any questions on the weekly content.
I feel that getting a degree is important and provide me with core skills which help at work. I have done modules such as SQL which are applied on a daily basis at work and I have done other modules such as systems development which help me gain knowledge of key words and language which are used at work.
There are many societies at work. There are sport societies where you can play once a week and other things which you can get involved in. There are also 2 CSR days provided in a year where you can give your time to help charity and EY will match fund if you fundraise.
Yes
EY is a great place to gain knowledge and exposure to many different types of businesses due to the broad client base we have. This gives me a core understanding of how different sectors operate and if I was to get an internal transfer I could also perform work and gain exposure in other service lines such as tax
Make sure you are honest in your application to ensure you are a right fit for the company. Research the company to ensure they are a right fit for you also as it is a two way relationship. Ensure you prepare any materials they ask you beforehand and just try your best to ask a lot of questions to gain an understanding of EY.
