It involved being given an insight to what working in such a fast-paced environment may be like. I was given the opportunity to present, communication and work in groups, whilst getting a week of client-side experience. I worked towards my CMI in team leading over the course of this programme.
I was taught invaluable skills, whilst heavily developing others. The main emphasis was on communication, presentation and team-work skills, however other skills were unintentionally learned along the way. These included punctuality, how to present yourself in a business environment, and how to speak to fellow colleagues according to appropriate situations.
I had a very valuable time over the course of the three weeks I spent at EY. I met many wonderful people, who I thoroughly learned from. At times I would find myself struggling with the tasks set to achieve the CMI, however I was given appropriate help, making it a lot more enjoyable. Ultimately, I enjoyed my time to a large extent.
I believe the work experience was well organised. There were new tasks to complete daily, with additional tasks to complete when finished. At the beginning of the work experience, a plan was outlined for the duration of the work. This was obeyed. The week of client side work was also very well, and professionally, orchestrated.
It was made very apparent to me that the highest standards were required to work at EY as soon as I stepped foot in the offices. Despite this, everyone seemed so chilled out and were getting along fine, creating a very calming and inviting atmosphere. This made it easy for myself to integrate.
I always had an idea that I wanted to enter the financial sector, however my time at EY really cemented this thought. Furthermore, I was given the opportunity to speak to professionals in positions that I was interested in, allowing my to gain an honest, first hand experience on what that particular career is like.
This was a very handsomely paid internship, with travel costs that were incurred in the client-side week being reimbursed. Of course, this made the experience even better, and was a lovely bonus on top of the already very valuable experience and opportunity. We were very well looked after financially in my opinion.
Not only were there plenty of opportunities to network with fellow interns, many opportunities to network with employees rose. This ranged from the newest of employees, to the highest ranking member in the EY luton office. Getting to speak to these people was encouraging and somewhat insight. They gave very good feedback.
Yes
Based on my experience, I can only speak positively of EY. State of the art offices, lovely people, very well paid, huge company with huge clients, and plenty of opportunities. You really feel valued within EY, which enables you to enjoy every working day. Working for them is a no brainier.
I would say to be yourself of course, but read up on their values. Expect to be worked hard but treated fairly. Be grateful for any time that you get to spend with EY, as there are many people out there who would pull your arm off for the opportunity to work for them, and thankfully I was lucky enough.
