IT Technical Sales Apprentice Review

During my apprenticeship, I will perform as a all-round ISE when in working in business units, meaning that I am the first point of contact for Tech Data customers portraying a professional and confident manner that delivers excellent customer satisfaction. We will build and maintain an active customer base and develop new sales opportunities to achieve the sales targets. Being an apprentice also means that I am able to gain in depth experience in all sides of the company, stretching from Sales and credit to Vendors and Operations. This allows me to become a more beneficial asset to my team and to the company, since I will have a stronger knowledge of Tech Data’s divisions and be able to apply this to my day-to-day job. Additionally, in the long run, I have more doors opened to me since I will have already have a base layer of experience in the various departments and job roles

During my time as an Apprentice here at Tech Data I have already improved on so many aspects, ranging from my all-round confidence at work to the ability to listen and understand customer's problems to offer the best solution. I have been lucky enough to develop myself through various activities such as Natural Training; where we learned how to compose the perfect sales call, as well as negotiation and rejection. I know for a fact that similar apprenticeships don't offer training anywhere near as in depth or as focused on our personal development as Tech Data do, so I feel incredibly lucky to have been offered a place here and know it will give me a huge advantage in my future sales career.

Prior to working at Tech Data I never thought I'd enjoy working in an office full-time, however I can safely that perception has now completely changed. My time here as an apprentice has been fantastic and I am so glad that I not only decided to choose to take the apprenticeship route, but was offered a place at this brilliant company. I have always struggled with maintaining interest in activities for a longer period of time but the manager's here at Tech Data (especially [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions]) have quickly understood that and made sure that I never have nothing to do. I really do wake up everyday looking forward to coming to work which is something I never believed would be possible.

Considering that this is only the second year that Tech Data has enrolled apprentices into the business, I think that the overall structure and organisation of the programme is spot on. I am yet to come across any issues with the way our apprenticeship is laid out, and definitely believe that the apprentice managers have learned many things from the previous cohort.

If there is anything that I am unsure of, concerned or worried about, I know that I can go straight to my manager or colleagues for help. Tech Data offer countless support for personal problems, as well as career development, goals and targets. It is clear that Tech Data are committed to their employee's wellbeing as well as truly caring about our personal progression. Hearing through friends that their employers wouldn't ever go to the great lengths that our's do to ensure that we are happy, reminds me of how lucky I am to be working at Tech Data.

Both have gladly proof read any work that I have needed to submit, as well as offering advice and improvements to help me reach the best possible marks. I am truly thankful for [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] who offers and maintains such brilliant support to each one of us apprentices, and I really hope he knows how appreciative we all are of the work he puts into the programme.

Obtaining my qualification is of course a massive achievement and will set me up well in my future sales career. However, I believe it's the whole process that will massively benefit me to perform better in my job role. Unlike other programmes, being an apprentice allows me to gain a hands-on experience of all the different aspects of the company, which will in turn improve my general business knowledge and skills. I am very lucky to have been given this opportunity to learn and understand Tech Data as a company and how I can be the best possible asset.

Tech Data offers countless extra-curricular activities to get involved in, and it is very clear that the company wants every employee to take part and enjoy themselves. We are always recieving emails and notifications with new activities and events, inviting us to get involved and boost our own personal abilities.

Not a lot of companies will welcome you into their corporation as positively as Tech Data do. At no point have I felt that I am not included or appreciated, and that's coming from someone who never imagined themselves working in an office. I cannot stress enough how great Tech Data are and the work/effort they put into their employees. Everyone is welcome and everyone is massively encouraged to be the best they can be.
