Shadowing aircraft engineers and learning the trade through a mixture of observation and practical participation in the maintenance activities. Carrying out a variety of work based on the requirements of the operation. Recording the work you have carried out for NVQ evidence and completing knowledge statement questions. Having regular meetings with NVQ assessors to track progress. Attending courses and exams for an EASA Part 66 A Licence.
Developing hand skills and mechanical and electrical/electronic understanding. Understanding theory through classroom lessons.
I enjoy the parts of my job that keep me busy with actual work on aircraft. Otherwise, the apprenticeship paperwork etc. is fairly dull.
Organisation and structure is not a strong aspect of the apprenticeship. Communication is a weak area.
Most support is delivered locally, by the people I am working with day to day. I haven't required much support otherwise.
Regular meetings are scheduled, but travel to LHR is required and fuel expenses are not paid for this. Regular contact via email is maintained.
Minimally. The hands-on training provides the most development. The courses/exams are valued due to the progress towards an A Licence.
Nothing official.
Yes

Develop your hand skills and GCSE level maths & science knowledge.
