As a manufacturing apprentice at a pharmaceutical site, I shadow the process technicians and help them in the production batch powders. We have to follow the log sheets carefully to make sure the products we produce are of a top quality standard.
Yes, I have learned a lot about the legislations surrounding the manufacture of pharmaceuticals, and what would happen if we didn't meet the stipulations set by the HSE.
I really enjoy my apprenticeship programme, I have been given a lot of responsibilities which make me an important part of the working team, which really gives me a lot of job satisfaction.
My apprenticeship is very well organised, we are given a new rotor yearly which tells us our college weeks and our placement rotations, and we also use outlook, which organises all of our meetings and courses on our online calendar.
I receive a lot of support from my employer, they always put me forward to any courses I want to take part in.
I receive a lot of support, while studying for my HNC I struggle wit the maths, so I went to the apprentice manager who helped me by getting in touch with the site logistical team, now I have regular meetings with them for tutoring.
The qualifications I have gained through GEN2 have helped in many situations on site, from the basic hand tool training I received, to the technical break down of the solvent pumps we use on site.
I am a stem ambassador so I take part regularly in stem events through GSK, I also regularly go to our on site gym where I have made lots of new friends.
Yes
My apprenticeship has really brought me out of my shell and made me much more confident. I really enjoy working at GSK, and its a great feeling knowing that what I do at work helps people do more, feel better and live longer.
don't worry about not having a lot of technical knowledge or experience, an apprenticeship is the best way to gain both of them.
