Maintain and attend break fix for filling machines for ellipta devices. Electrical, mechanical, controls and calibrations are some of the many skills needed for this role.
I have gained a completely new skill set from calibrations and electrical to mechanical work. I am now more proficient at working with my hands and getting stuck in.
At times the job can be a little boring if there isn't much on but very rarely are we not busy. When busy it is a fast pace highly pressure environment that is very enjoyable to work in.
As the years went on the structure became better and better. We changed training providers for years below me which seemed a much better option. GSK have worked hard to produce a very well structured apprenticeship.
Every step of the way there was always somebody there to help me whenever I needed it. I never felt like I was isolated or told to do anything I didn't have the skill set to do.
Our original training provider was very poor but this quickly got fazed out so that now we have a better basis for our apprenticeship. I myself didn't directly deal with out new training provider, Gen 2, but I have only heard positive comments.
The HNC which I received didn't relate very much to what I do at work, I felt it was just a hoop to jump through. I cannot comment on our new training provider.
There are many extra curricular activated to get involved in, having our own sports and social club on site really helps. Networking is a massive part of GSK and there are plenty of ways you can do this.
