Lab analyst which involves routine analysis of release batches. This involves taking samples and preparing them so that they can be run through an HPLC in order to check they meet the requirements
I have learnt loads of new skills as working in a proper lab was not something that I had done before. I have now learnt analytical techniques and lab safety. I have also developed skills such as communication/presentation
I really enjoy my programme. The rotational system allows me to see different aspects of the company and gain a huge amount of experience. Additionally, I enjoy the on the job learning.
Fairly organised in that we are placed into one area for 9 months at a time for the duration of the apprenticeship. This allows a wide aspect of the company to be viewed
There is so much support from the employer, whether this be from the early talent team or manager in my area, I feel completely comfortable and know that I can go to anyone at any time.
A fair bit of support. There are check ins every 8 weeks with a contact from the university and you can email them at any point. Similarly, the tutors are always there to help with questions you may have with your studies
A lot of what you learn can be linked into the day to day role. However, there is a lot of theory which is more focused on the actual subject you study.
There are societies that you can get involved in. There are also a networking group which organise events/socials and deliver news between the sites.
Yes
I think it's a very good and professional company. You do not feel like an apprentice as you are treated as equally as other employers. There is also so much support to help you get the maximum experience out of your apprenticeship
Make sure you agree with GSK's core values as they are what they look for in future employees. In your application process, answer questions confidently and honestly
