At the beginning of my day, I check my emails for anything of importance for the day ahead. Following on from this, I will see what client audit files I have work outstanding on and prioritise them accordingly. If I am struggling for work I will contact my line manager who will provide me with further tasks to complete. Each day at EY is very varied and different as there are always different tasks to be completed for different clients.
I have started my professional qualifications with ICAS and have therefore began to develop my technical accounting knowledge, I have also developed more skills using Microsoft packages every day.
I really enjoy my apprenticeship with EY, the team I work with are fantastic and very helpful which allowed me to settle in very quickly.
My apprenticeship is very structured, we find out far in advance which clients we will be working on and when we will be out studying at ICAS.
EY are very supportive employers. Before starting, we are allocated a councillor and a buddy who we can approach if we have any problems/questions.
EY provide a great deal of support with our professional qualifications training, we are provided with study leave which allows us time to focus on studying between work.
My ICAS qualification helps me to perform better in my role as everything I learn is applied to my day-to-day work.
There are many extra curricular activities to get involved in at EY with a variety of different committees and networks in the office.
Yes
I have thoroughly enjoyed the first year of my apprenticeship and feel it would be a great experience to other school leavers. The practical experience gained is invaluable and you can qualify in less time compared to studying at university then achieving a graduate role within EY after your studies.
EY is a very diverse employer therefore ensure you are yourself and very open and honest in your application. Part of the application is a case study online, for this I would recommend taking your time, while still ensuring not to go over the time limit, and approach each question methodically.
