In the office day to day roles vary greatly depending on the current placement area. This can be from practical hands on work to certification documents for aircraft to CAD modeling. Some days are also spent at uni completing a bachelors degree.
Developed communication skills greatly both with how to communicate within the company and to people outside. From a technical stand point gaining the experience while working has been hugely valuable to understand what I specifically excel at as well as what I enjoy.
The placement aspect of the program is great, getting to be a part of the working world is a great way to learn, and you get supported as well as pushed in that. The college/uni side has its frustrations but gives the education fundamentals.
The organisation and structure to the program has been improving the whole time I have been there. There is still more work to do but in general it is now pretty good. There is a lot of apprentice lead aspects to the course which enables us to develop to.
In work we have as much support as we need to be able to be a valuable part of the business. At uni/college there is less support from the business but it is there when needed.
We receive as much support as we need like any other student.
Depends greatly on the area that you work in. I have found very little of it useful in the workplace so far but others have used it every day.
Yes, although I do not get involved that much myself. The events that I have been to have been really good fun though!
Yes
The ability to learn while studying in an apprenticeship is a brilliant way to learn. Airbus is has a lot of opportunities in different areas because of the size of the company.
Prepare well for the interview, know the company, but be yourself. For the group exercise, remember you are not judged on how well you do the exercise but how well you work together!
