Technology Consultant Review

General technology consulting, working on both home and away projects, advising clients and working with project teams. we do very similar work to the graduates, just have a capped pay. one week every 2 months we go back to Ada college to complete a new module and submit coursework as requested

Yes, have learnt a lot of new skills. I had only a conceptual understanding of technology before and have now gained a high level overview, which is extremely useful. I have done everything from Project management, through finances and Architecture, which has taught me a lot.i have become much more efficient with excel and powerpoint to name applications.

I do enjoy the programme as a whole, with consulting i think that it is very dependant on what project and team you get which is often luck. However i have had a good mix so fair. We are heavily deducted in pay terms, which is really tough as we have to live in London. But it is enjoyable overall

From an EY point, i think it is fairly well organised. We have a good support system in place but as it is a new programme and nobody from EY has yet graduated there is a lack of definition at the end of the programme. From college, Ada seems very disorganised which makes learning quite painful.

There is a good support network in place, we have buddies, counsellors, line managers and cohort leads. However i find most of my college and work support on my own. As a big company there is always someone in a place to help, which is brilliant. I haven't ever been in a situation where I struggle so far

I don't find ada as good, there is a lack of information prior to the week we attend. which makes it hard when we are balancing what is a full time job and a degree. The lectures were very poor at the start and that has put us in a negative mindset now. It is also very hard to get hold of the college

Up until now, i feel what we have learnt at college hasn't been much use. I didn't want to be too technical and the elements taught were a little basic. However the new modules are more aligned to the role we do and modules like risk were actually useful!

Yes, there are quite a few. EY recently paid for me to do TOAGF, a business architecture qualification. This will be great for my future job prospects and it was a big plus for me. There are regular events and sporting teams meet weekly with leagues and competitions to compete in

EY is a great way to get into consulting, while the paths are still being defined there is a clear benefit to being there. you get a great professional network, on the job learning and support to grow and take on extra circular activities. I have really enjoyed it overall and feel confident i will come out with a degree, ready to move onto better things

Ask as many questions as possible, have some kind of plan in place to drive you, but don't stick to it by the letter. Enjoy meeting new groups and connect with the graduates as much as possible. Chase projects and enjoy all the good parts that every project has to offer, don't dwell on any bad parts.
