It was over 2 weeks where we achieved a CMI certificate in leadership skills, it also showed us the world of accounting and finance and what was necessary to become one
We achieve a CMI LEADERSHIP certificate and we ticked off skills and or gained them throughout the programme. We had a lot of mentoring talks and what would be the best path for us and that no ones route is the same. It was very good to learn as it showed you that not everything in life is going to go the way you want it to. We also did a week shadowing some of the employees and got knowledge of how the day tk day running of the job goes
I enjoyed mostly because I was with my friends, which really helped, it would’ve been better if we did more ice breaker skills and got to know more of the people that we were with so we could become more comfortable with them, this would’ve been really beneficial as we did grouo activities and not everyone was comfortable
My work experience was really organised, the head was this lady called anita and she was very good but she didn’t lead everything which turned out to be a mess, the people under her who did some of the activities messed up, as they didn’t present the PowerPoints effectively and one lady in particular wrote the contacts wrongly, in the contract it promised to cover our travel but it didn’t ect
We learned so so much about the company culture, as mentioned before we had so many talks with so many employees in different parts and levels of the company which gave a holistic outlook and perception of the company , we learned about the negative and positive and how much we need to learn to be in the same level as them
To be fair it didn’t help very much, it gave a lot of overview on the industry but it was very repetitive and only showed you life about an accountant ect and it didn’t fully show you the stress of doing exams and working and how doing both would work
I was paid for this experience but again in the contract it said we would be paid a specific amount but apparently that was false and it seemed like we were underpaid. It still was a good bonus of doing the programme but the management of it was shambolic and disordered.
There was opportunities for networking and meeting up with employees after the programme which was very beneficial but the only bad thing was everyone was supposed to have a mentor and my specific one didn’t show up and/ or contact me and when I told management nothing was done about it
Yes
I would recommend it because it shows you working life in accounting which anyone in any stage if there life can get into, furthermore if more logic based and can be something anyone can achieve. Being paid also helps and gaining a leadership qualification is so beneficial when applying to uni ect
Make sure you’re confident in your interview, try and pre plan your answers or how you think you’ll answer the interview questions, you always have more than one chance of applying and the advice you’ll get there is very good and can be really beneficial when alllying tk university
