This was my third year placement in PwC Uxbridge office as an Auditor. My role consists of being part of an audit team, working on areas assigned to me by my supervisor or incharge. ay to Day job consists of going to the client site and communicating with client on a regular basis to perform your audit testing on your assigned areas.
Being part of an audit team no matter how big or small, I have managed to improve on my communication skills by communicating within my team on a regular basis to give them status update on my assigned areas and also when asking questions to the senior member in my team whenever I wa struggling.
I really enjoy the flying start programme as it provide you with a good balance of student university life experience and work experience in one of the Big 4 accounting firms. You also get paid while working in placement and gain ton of practical experience at a very young age.
The programme is very well structured. During the first year you will not be working and will be able to enjoy full university life experience for the year. You will start placement from second year of the programme till your fourth and final year. The first 2 placement are 3 months longe and the final one is 5 months long.
We receive plenty of support during our placement in PwC. You will be assigned a buddy when you first join who will there for you whenever you have some query or are struggling with something. You will also have a people manager who you will have regular meetings with to discuss about how well you have worked so far and if you have any problems you can raise it to them.
We receive plenty of support from PwC. They provide us with one week of training before starting placement and before christmas holiday. The training day is very useful it helps you get used to the work laptop that is provided to you and the internal softwares that is used to carry out our work.
The placements provide you with strong technical skills and practical experience. An each year you come back on placement you feel more experience than before by recalling on your previous placement and each year you will continue to grow as you handle more complex areas which will allow you to enhance your technical skills.

I would recommend PwC to my friends if they want to pursue in career of accountancy, as they provide you with plenty of variety of experiences. After 3 years of working in PwC and passing all of the 15 ACA exams you will become a ACA chartered accountant, which will provide you with more window of opportunities in future.
The tips and advice I would give to other people applying to PwC would be to be very positive and have a willing to do and learn attitude at every time. By doing this you will gain the most experience of your time in PwC and will be able to better improve upon your technical and interpersonal skills.
