Audit work including test of details and various financial statement items and liasing with client to request documents which we then tested. We checked for completeness, accuracy, cut off, accuracy, rights and obligations and measurement . eg test depreciation evidence gathering activity by obtaining PPE loan documents or other supporting evidence
people skills in talking to client professional and team working skills in talking to audit team, also leadership in order to lead entities at times. learnt skills such as excel and vlookup or pivot tables to assimilate data more effectively and learnt a lot of different data techniques for our client
I did really enjoy it, there is a larger pressure at big 4 especially busy sseaons so it may have extra hours like some days work 9am to 12pm or other days more normal so 9am to 7pm but depends on the client and how the team functions oppotunity to work from home sometime too
it was well organised, good structure, intergrated paid leave and great staffing. I had a clear resourcing schedule so knew exactly what clients I was on and for how long and found it easy to navigate my roles and responsibilities in each part of each audit via an online resource internal site
company culture in big 4 is always a bit more intesnse but I appreciate the globalbackground of everyone and that really made the experience the most enjoyable for me the sheer scope of inustries and experience you obtain is great to and I appreciate that the company overall has an open mind approach
quite a lot, I realise now what audit is like and later would like to try another line of service too. at pwc these include tax, deals, consulting etc and a lot of them are more front end and client facing than audit as audit is mainly just checking for compliance
yes I was paid monthly and we were paid for all travel to client site which was nice, sometimes had to stay overnight or a few weeks at client site which hotels and dinner are paid for, you get a dinner allowance working after 9pm of £12 which is very nice
yes many events held included both at local office and atlondon office. events were held weekly within floors too so you can bond with other audit team members and there were often themed culutural dates too eg hcinese new year or other celeratory meals upon finishing an audit or other project
Yes
very good structure and great place to start to accumulate business knowledge and understanding, you get to grasp a lot of new areas much quicker and see what the companies operate like on a day to day basis, you can understand more about their financial statements and internal analysis too
mainly learn whats on their website, if they advertise something its important to know their values back to front and the key competencies, they also value general byusiness knowledge so please look at business news and headlines in that sector or any sector or operating industry you are interested in
