The placement involved working in audit for several clients in a 3 month period. Training was provided at the start of placement and much of the work involved sampling, gaining evidence from the client, performing reconciliations of payroll and overheads etc. The hours varied greatly depending on the client I was assigned to.
I have developed my ability to liaise with clients effectively as well as effectively managing my time and tasks. I greatly improved my technical skills with respect to Excel and other applications, including learning many shortcuts which enabled to maximise my efficiency. I also learnt how to use Aura Platinum.
Overall, I have very much enjoyed the programme. Although the hours can initially be overwhelming, I feel that over time my motivation has increased and I have found ways to manage the hours, such as taking exercise breaks, coffee breaks and going for lunch. I have found the programme to be very informative and have learnt a lot.
Overall the programme is very well structured and organised. During placement, one is able to effectively put into practice what they have learnt during tuition, and further develop the practical aspects of what they are taught in order to gain a greater general understanding of the material. There is a good balance between theory and practical.
I received support from the university, both informative and supportive. The main support I received however, was from PwC themselves. On my first day I was introduced to my 'buddy', a senior associate who I could talk to about any issues I was having, as well as a career mentor who guided me and advised me on how best to tackle my placement.

During my placement, it was busy season and so there were not a great deal of extra curricular activities to take part in, however there were weekly socials and audit meals, which were great to meet new people and spend some down time with work colleagues. There were also quizzes which I enojoyed.
