My role was an intern/trainee my role was mainly a learning one in which I supported the team in anyway possible. I was initially giving basic tasks but as my experience grew I got assigned more in depth tasks and contributed more directly to the audit by completing increasingly demanding EGAS.
I have learnt a range of skills both regarding the technology side of audit where I greatly increased my excel and Aura platinum skills but also in the social side where I learnt how to interact with clients and teams in an appropriate manner allowing me to network and also immerse myself in the social aspect of teams.
The programme was enjoyable at the most parts however there were times when I was not given a lot of work so didn't feel I was contributing greatly to the team. The work was enjoyable when it was challenging but when receiving very basic tasks it felt slightly unrewarding as I didn't feel I was contributing greatly.
In general it was organised however I would of liked to received emails regarding new clients slightly earlier as when initially working on my first away job I only found out a day before. The support within teams regarding explaining work was very good in my experience with someone always being free to help.
My teams provided me good support with my work within audit engagements. My career coach could of been better as we only talked once throughout our engagement and I never received much guidance or help. My managers throughout the process where good however in terms of obtaining feedback it took a very long time and a lot of chasing up.
I got a good level of support in regards of audit engagements with the attitude always being positive with regards to showing me how to complete tasks. As mentioned previously a more engaged career coach would of been helpful. I did overall enjoy the experience even though it was challenging at times.
The theory I learnt helped me understand the audit , however now I've actually worked in audit and had to put the processes into practice it will definitely help me with my understanding in exams and further learning as I am more of a practical learner. I do feel I know about my role from completing part of my qualification.
Yea there where social options throughout the time at work also there was a good attitude towards flexible working which allowed me a few times to fit in my fitness side of life into work. I was always receiving emails for company events which made me feel more part of a team.
