My day to day role involves reviewing marketing material ensuring it is written at the right level and not too technical for people outside of the industry to understand - Engage with key stakeholders for various projects to ensure everybody is up to date on progress or anything that is hindering a project progression - Attend site visits to gather accurate and relevant data to produce reports for new smart building design solutions
I have learnt how to write reports for new business proposals and writing the appropriate solutions for the clients I have learnt all about new smart technology and how it is involving within the industry I have learnt how to vary my communication style for different audiences you engage within each placement How to develop a project plan, resource plans from my project management training
I really enjoy my programme being able to move around the business for 4 placements with QA training and various training days to support my career and personal development. I am extremely grateful for the apprenticeship I am on and feel there have been so many opportunities to grow throughout the two years that I might not have had in other jobs when I was searching after I had left university.
The programme is well organised from the very first day I started. We were shown around all different areas of the business in our introduction week and key flagship sites. We then started our QA training a few months in which allowed us to settle into the new role/introduction to the working world. The remaining sessions were well spread out across the two years, in an order that supports you as your experience develops. The programme also allows us to develop leadership skills outside office/ classroom environments with out of city retreats to improve our leadership and as well as learning about the importance of personal wellbeing.
I receive lots of support from my employer from the early careers team who manage the graduate scheme, my internal company mentor and individual placement managers. They have all highlighted that they are there if I ever need to call if I have any problems or want to develop my personal goals.
I received lots of support throughout my qualification with a skills coach to support me throughout, ensuring I stayed on top of all my assignments and was available if I ever needed help with any questions. During the apprenticeship I had 3 coaches, QA ensured the next coach was up to date with my progress and made meetings very personal with monthly catch-ups and occasional face to face meetings.
The training provided many modules that I had not previously thought would be important for doing well in a managerial role later on in life/ something I had never thought about before I joined the scheme. The training also makes you aware of any bad habits you have that might hinder you progression or attributes that you have not been aware of, allowing for continuous personal improvement. The training allows you to recognise the dynamics of your team, how to communicate effectively to get the best working team.
Yes, there are lots of activities you can get involved in with many networking groups such as Women in FM, Women in ENGIE, Young Persons Network. The graduates also have the opportunity to get involved with the Million Makers challenge organising events such as sports day, swimathon, Christmas quiz. These are all great examples of how you can network with people from all around the business and across the UK.
Yes
ENGIE creates a great workplace culture, I have felt at ease and welcomed in all my placements. Key values are echoed throughout from all my managers so far which I think really works for creating great teams. Lots of support is offered across ENGIE from internal mentorship or further training opportunities such as project management or finance. The graduate scheme and other schemes that ENGIE offers help support employees by gaining the key skills to be successful for future leadership/managerial positions arise whilst working towards a qualification. From this, I recognise why ENGIE is one of the UK's top employers.
Research - there are many sectors and divisions within ENGIE from FM, energy infrastructure to regeneration. There may be areas you might find interesting to start a career in you never heard about before. Research ENGIE's values - employers are looking for people to join who share the same values. These values are practised widely across the business to create a great work culture.
