I worked within several different Audit teams that would audit company accounts before year end. I was often in a large team and would have to carry out test of details, speak with the client in order to receive the relevant supporting documents and finally communicate with my team to complete the accounts before the deadline.
I have improved my ability to communicate both upwards and downwards. I have also been able to practice communicating with the client which required a level of technical knowledge about the audit practice. Furthermore I learnt the importance of team work as I often was working in large teams of 10-15 people.
I enjoyed my placement at PwC. I felt valued within the teams i worked in despite being at the lowest grade. I made good friends within these teams and feel I have learnt a lot about how to work in a corporate environment and further how to be a good team player.
Very well structured. We were lucky enough to have flying start champs to brief us on the first few days. These champs had also been in our position not too long before us and they were very helpful in answering any questions we all had. Furthermore we would meet with the champs for a mid placement review which was a very good exercise.
Again, I felt valued at PwC. I had a career coach who supported me throughout my placement. I spoke with my coach regularly throughout the three months and further also had a mid placement call with a member of PwC who made sure that everything was going well on the placement.
I believe the knowledge that we attain from our professional exams is absolutely relevant in understanding and performing better in our role. I often had to recall upon accounting knowledge I already had and can see the benefit of understanding the accounting treatment because it is always being referred to in the work place.
I didnt get involved in any extra curricular activites but this is because we were working in the busiest part of the year so any free time is well received and spent resting and recovering.
Yes
Its an enjoyable work environment. I have met good people at the firm who want to help and do really care.
I think its a good experience and would advise anyone to give it a go!
