My role involved auditing the financial statements of a variety of companies. This meant gathering sources of evidence through use of records in order to come to a conclusion as to whether the statements are 'true and fair'.
I've managed to develop many skills including time management, communication and confidence. I have learned some of the technical capabilities required for the job, prioritising more important work over other work.
I enjoyed the placement much more when completing new tasks where I could gain a greater understanding of the context of the task. I enjoyed it less when it involved much more manual and repetitive processes.
The programme is very well structured and allows you to put into practice aspects of university study.
Support is available through the form of a career coach, flying start champion, as well as incredibly supportive colleagues on a day-to-day basis who understand how the role can be difficult especially during busy season.
The university has a strong support system in place both during study as well as on placement. The ICAEW has support available in the form of a helpline which can be utilised for queries.
The qualification is directly related to the role through accredited exams. Therefore, I feel that it is particularly relevant and will aid me greatly as I progress through the qualification.
There are numerous extra-curricular activities which we are actively encouraged to get involved in. This includes social activities such as drinks and quizzes. This can therefore also help with building strong and effective team relationships.

PwC is a place of work which strongly encourages career progression. The fantastic level of support through different teams really helps guide you through difficult situations. By observing higher level team members, you can easily aspire to be similar to them and are motivated to do so. Working at PwC is an experience which can be tough at times, but is great overall.
