I am an auditor for pwc so I have the task of viewing the financial statements of a company and perform testing on material elements of them in order to say to the shareholders that they represent a true and fair view of the business and its performance for the year.
Throughout this experience, the biggest skill I gained was with people. The placement has really grown my confidence and my people skills. I now feel very confident and comfortable talking to the pwc audit team and the client themselves, even if I am having to ask something they wont like to hear
I honestly and truly love this programme. The people at pwc are like family and make your time there truly special. The work is tough and it is long hours at time but it is very rewarding and worth it in the end. I honestly cannot think of any negatives
It is very organised and structured. I always know exactly where I need to be and when, what I need to be working on etc. There is very clear guidance on the Spark Pad and the training is very good so you know exactly where to go for any of your needs
There is a lot of support from pwc. To name a few you have a career coach, flying start champions, a social buddy and resource managers. All of there are here for you to ensure that you have the best experience possible. They also look out for your mental wellbeing
We have a lot of support, we do not have to work towards our study on placement and equally do not need to work when we have exams coming up. There are so many resources available on the internet and also on paper forms and constant accessibility to tutors for questions
Some of the exams really do have an enormous amount of impact on the work that we do when on placement. For example we do an exam called audit and assurance. This exam really lays out all the questions we should be thinking when looking at a company's financial statements
PwC has a very "team first" culture embedded. This means they want to ensure that the team (which is us) are looked after. There are many socials that are organised, which leads an opportunity to become part of the social committee, as well as formal balls to go and network at
Yes
Similar to what I was saying before, PwC is like a family. The people you meet there are incredible and give you so much support. I am so happy to be there and it makes me take pride in my company and want to do a better job for them
I would advise them to go on the pwc website and research the five core competencies. These are the main things that we look for at pwc and what makes a really good pwc employee. I would also suggest asking me as many questions as possible to gain a good knowledge of the firm
