My role as an auditor involved spending a lot of time on client site, gathering evidence on the client's financial statements. This involved lots of talking with client contacts and requesting information as well as needing to work closely with the PwC team to allow us to meet our deadlines. When we had everything we needed from our client, we spent the rest of the audit working from the office.
I have completed internal training on different parts of the audit and regulations, enabling me to be able to perform my job to a higher standard. I also learnt lots about the audit process on the job and how to audit many different parts of the financial statements . I have grown in confidence and am now find it easier to talk to client contacts when requesting information.
I enjoyed the work, it was very interesting and i learned a lot about auditing and accounting. Also the team members i got to work with were very welcoming due to it being my first placement, they helped answer any questions i had either about the work or PwC in general.
The programme is very well structured, we have two induction days while everyone in the office is on christmas holidays, allowing us to get to know the office. We then go straight into our first jobs, but the support network, so any questions can be answered quickly. Any relevant information is relayed to us very quickly.
The support network we have is very extensive, we are all assigned a career coach when we start, with whom we have regular meetings with to ensure everything is going okay and they are always available via hangouts. We are also assigned a buddy to welcome us into PwC. also we have two flying start champions, two people that have already graduated from our degree so run our induction days and our last admin days. These are always available via hangouts for questions. Our university staff are also still available for contact if we need support from them.

The content taught by the university helps give us an understanding of accounting and the audit process before we go out onto our placement, this allows us to already know how some of the audit works. We then further develop our understanding when we go out onto our placement, the knowledge we gain here will help us with our end of year exams.
There are lots of extra-curricular activities to get involved in, they have a board which people extra-curricular opportunities on so it is up to you to go and look to see if there is anything that you like. This enables people to start up activities that they want to do and find other people that are interested.
Yes
The working environment at PwC is relaxed, the office is very open plan and there are no set seats, allowing people to work flexibly and sit with their teams. While the environment is relaxed, the staff still work very hard and drive each other along. Also the support networks at PwC are very large - most people are very helpful and open to answering questions.
Don't be afraid to ask questions, the other staff will endeavour to help you or point you in the direction of people who can help. There are lots of opportunities for away jobs or working abroad, just make sure someone knows you would like to do this and they will try.
