My role included learning the audit and assurance testing procedures, working in a team to complete audits (both on and off site) and interacting with clients.
I have learned a lot; before joining this programme I did not now how to complete testing required for an audit, nor did I know the in depth procedures of how an audit works. Now I have developed knowledge on both, as well as aiding my degree programme.
I really enjoyed this programme; the busy season kept me busy at all times an learning new aspects all of the time.
This is very well organised, however we did not have much contact with the university whilst on placement. We had scheduled calls with our career coaches on a regular basis to check up on how we were doing.
My employers were very supportive- there was always someone to talk to and if i was feeling overwhelmed they would help me.
I had little contact from ICAEW, and the university also did not contact us very often. Especially since our placement overlapped with the COVID-19 incident, this built up stress about what would happen after our placement ended and what would be the result of our exams.
This course allows me to get both experience in the workplace over a period of 3 years, over short bursts. I think this is a better way of doing it rather than it being an entire year out.
There are lots of social activities and the networking is extensive.
Yes
It is a great place to work, great atmosphere and really good in aiding me through my degree.
