  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My job was to check the accuracy and validity of the accounts of the clients i was working on, by using various different testing methods, and checking that information to their accounts and third party information, in order to ensure PwC are happy to confirm that the information received is true and fair.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • During my placement i have learnt multiple new skills, ranging from basic excel functionality, to the more advanced skills of the use of Aura platinum, which is what PwC use to prepare and review all of the testing documents. My knowledge and efficiency has improved vastly over the course of this placement.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoyed my placement thoroughly and enjoyed working in the Edinburgh office everyday with my colleagues. I found the hours and the work very manageable which made the whole experience more enjoyable overall. It has been enjoyable and rewarding learning new skills, and meeting new people and I look forward to next placement.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I think the programme is very well organised, I very rarely found myself with queries to ask, as most of the information needed for my placement was given to me upon arrival. An example would be on talent link my jobs were laid out clearly so I had a clear idea of what my placement would be like.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I received a good amount of support during my placement, and on the occasions where I do have questions or need guidance I received it. I was given a career coach and buddy to help me through my placement, and guide me along the placement when I needed help from them.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The training provider provides minimal support currently for helping me towards my qualifications as it is all done through my university, but when I graduate they will be more helpful then as I will be working full time with PwC but also doing my final few examinations, organised by them.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • As this was my first placement I didn't really use knowledge gained from my qualification very much as I wasn't working on jibs where it was applicable, but in later years of my placement I'm sure the knowledge gained from my degree will be useful and crucial in order to do my job.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes there are multiple extracurricular activities that PwC offer on a daily basis, ranging from 5 a side football, to weekly quizzes, all designed to keep employees happy and motivated, and during my placement I signed up for the weekly 5 a side football friendlies that they offer every Tuesday.

  • 9a. Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Because PwC have made me feel very comfortable and welcome during y placement, they are a very worker friendly firm, and they also provide great promotional opportunities for their workers, which provides motivation and incentive for their employees to want to work harder, in order to progress up the ladder.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
  • I don't really have much advice for others applying to PwC as my application process was done through Newcastle University.
