I worked within the centre of excellence, specialising in pensions audit for a variety of clients across multiple sectors from large multi-national PLC's to smaller limited companies. This involved working across a variety of areas of the pensions file and working with people on client site as well as the clients themselves.
I have massively expanded my technical knowledge learning about how a pension scheme works and how they are audited. I feel that I have also improved upon my soft skills when working within teams and a variety of people inside and outside of PwC.
I have really enjoyed working within a large professional services organisation throughout my degree and having the exposure to so much experience which will be incredibly beneficial when working on the theoretical areas for exams.
The programme is very well structured in terms of the segmentation between university and placement and the support networks between the two organisations is always available if needed as there are so many people to speak with.
There are many networks available within PwC for support and coaching to ensure you know what you're doing and have the resources to get on with it. I have found the networks to be very beneficial both from a professional and personal perspective.
The university are always there to support through exams and also throughout placement. Their liaison with the ICAEW is also beneficial in ensuring that we are professionally qualified thanks to the strong relationship between the university and PwC.
The content which has been learned at university was able to have been put into practice when working at PwC and consequently, the experience I have gained at PwC will contribute towards my further study.
The CoE has a strong community and social culture which I have found to be one of my favourite parts of working in the business unit.
