My role was to assist in the completion of the audit of companies. Day to day I would document information from the client in relation to testing samples, contact the client, utilise accounting software and interact with colleagues.
I've learnt a lot of excel skills and shortcuts to aid when working on testing of samples. I've developed social skills in terms of the audit team as well as the client.
I enjoyed my programme a lot, it was an exciting, challenging but overall brilliant experience.
I would say the structure and organisation could use some work. I often felt left to my own devices and didn't know where or who to contact. I would suggest having a more inclusive induction process may help in the future.
I received a lot of support from my employer- expenses were paid. When i was on away jobs I also had people ask me if I was ok.
A lot of support, PwC paid for our books during time at university as well giving me support during placement. Additionally PwC is looking into the possibility of me completing summer work so that I can support myself financially.
My qualification works brilliantly alongside the role. Throughout the placement I was able to connect the theory of the university degree to the practicalities of the job and this solidified my understanding so that I had more clarity on jobs thereafter.
Yes, there are social events at least every month with your department. Additionally, there are sports teams, movie nights and a whole host of other social events that you are able to get involved in.
Yes
Because PwC give you the opportunity to explore options you wouldn't be able to with a normal job. The enormity of the company means you have access to a range of potential new career pathways, new friends and colleagues and new locations for you to work in. It really is such a diverse environment to work in
Make sure you understand the role you are going into, the PwC competencies as well as the firm ethos. If you are willing to learn, a hard worker and a team player then you should breeze through the application process. PwC look for individuals that care about the work in the most general sense so that is the best attribute to have.
