Between college and the shipyard, my daily activities vary. While at college it involves basic decorating skills as well as sign writing. While at the yard the activities are very different, they involve prepping and painting parts for the ships. I also check paperwork to ensure parts of the ship are present
i Have developed my decorating skilled through college, although learning decorating through my parents, I have developed them at college to a higher standard. At the yard I learnt mixing ratios of the different paints. One skill I would like to develop more the the spraying of paint
I thoroughly enjoy my apprenticeship, every day at work is different and it keeps things exciting
The programme is organised and I’ve had no issues finding out where I need to be
I receive support when I need it, I’m always asked how I’m getting on on a day to day basis
Plenty support, when in my reviews I receive feedback and support that I am satisfied with
Very well, when I’m given my feedback it makes me want to keep up with my attitude towards work and aim to make it better where possible
I believe there are, however I haven’t been involved in any yet. Although I have been involved in an open evening for the company at Anniesland college to answer questions for pupils who are looking for an apprenticeship to further their career
Yes
There are so many opportunities within the apprenticeship scheme that can aid pupils throughout the apprenticeship. For example you can go to uni and get a degree in a subject related to your job role, and you can also be moved to any site within the company
I would say to do a at least one year at college in your desired field of work I.e electrical engineer or mechanical engineer. This would be to gain the knowledge, qualification and experience needed for the programme
