I do audit - this means we look at the financial statements and ensure it is prepared in a true and fair manner to all stakeholders and shareholders. Part of this involves ensuring the the financial statements are prepared in all material respects in accordance with the financial reporting standards available.
Yes I have gained lots of knowledge in the different lines of business and accounting and auditing knowledge in different areas e.g. tax treatments, sampling and materiality methodology, etc. I have been given more responsibility this placement which has enhanced my project and time management skills in a pressured environment and attention to detail
I have enjoyed the programme as you get to work with intelligent, like-minded and friendly individuals in your network and who you can become friends with. It has given me the hands on industry experience which I wanted and helped me grow as an individual in a short period as there are many opportunities available to learn.
Yes it is well organised even with Covid-19 which has caused several unprecedented situations to arise. We have had regular updates and email to keep us well informed of the progress. It would be useful to be more involved in the university's module selection structure and the options available to us.
There is plenty of support available to an employee in the different methods that would be needed e.g. welfare, training, etc. through career coaches, buddy and different helplines available to call on. I am sure if there is any support needed, someone in PwC can help with your concerns.
We get our study materials from ICAEW and can visit their website for exam tips and for further guidance where we want to practice further questions or clarify doubts. I think their helpline service is helpful and efficient and they can be relied upon to deal with all queries quickly with relevant information.
Yes it is helpful in performing better and adding value to our clients based on the accounting, auditing, tax, business and financial knowledge that we gain theoretically. I do believe that some modules should be tailored to the industry that is being audited to help further in your performance in your role.
There are plenty of social activities and professional networking events available to attend to as well as events held by individual teams. Unfortunately, as my placements occur during busy season I have not had the opportunity to be a part of the extracurricular activities as much as I would like to and look forward to doing more next year.
Yes
It is a great environment to work in where you can challenge and push yourself to be the best. There are plenty of opportunities available to add variety to the work you perform. You also get to work alongside the best like-minded and intelligent people who can become your friends
Be yourself and do your research on the field that you would want to join in PwC. Proactively look for opportunities to gain some insight/knowledge/experience in the area that interests you - work experience is always very helpful! Also do ensure that auditing is the right fit for you.
