My primary role was to act as an auditor, working alongside clients with interesting and intellectually diverse problems. day to day I tested financial statements using various testing techniques.
My excel skills improved dramatically through the constant use of shortcuts to improve my productivity. Also my ability to communicate virtually improved through emailing clients in an appropriate manner.
The mixture of university and professional work is perfect as I gain experience in my future industry. Further, I can still enjoy the freedom and the social aspect of university.
The programme is very well structured, this is done by an excellent team of individuals both from the University of Reading and PwC. The separated nature of the placement is perfect as the job does not become all encompassing too early on in life.
PwC creates a sense of comfort through the many people/ groups available to help with queries and problems. These include my career coach, my buddy, my peers on the programma and my engagement team members.
The university is very helpful, there are a multitude of people available to help and constant emails with advice, invitations to chat and the quick spread of information.
The training has given me the technical knowledge to be able to perform the tasks assigned to me through my role.
There are multiple social activities on offer.
